work
So I am currently employed. I got a job offer at the end of August, so I put in a 2 week notice at the toll bridge where I was working. Then, on the last day of the 2 weeks, the company (Sanford) called and took back the job offer. Plus the bridge was already in the process of hiring someone to replace me, so I couldn't go back there. I've been putting out job apps, and had an interview at one so far, but nothing has come up yet. I also filed for unemployment, but because I "resigned" from the bridge I have so far not qualified. This is crazy and not fun. This is nearing the end of 2 weeks without a job now. Pray for me and wish me luck!

dream last night
Normally my dreams are cool, and I write them down. They involve things like flying and magic and vampires and childhood places and sometimes even take place in historical times. Last night's dream was nothing like those. In fact, this one was a bit creepy, which is odd as I haven't had nightmares since I was a kid.
In my dream last night, I was in my chilhood hometown playing on the road near my old house. Normally it's sides go down into something like a marsh, but this time the bottoms were full of water, enough to swim in. I was swimming on one side with some little girl when we came across a type of shrine. There were sseverral dozen little figures, maybe real maybe not that were only a few inches high and almost looked mummified but a bit evil. There was also a full-sized mummy of a man sitting down. Beads were around his neck to his waist and there was money scattered around him (bills mostly). Also near the bottom of this shrine were hundreds of what looked like black dull rocks that were flat and thin. The little girl and I took some out and made a game of trying to break them in half.
Suddenly the ground began to shake. The sky started to get dark, and everyone began running for shelter. I got seperated from my family and the little girl and ended up in someone's house with 8 strangers. We were sitting at a table and there was a cross on the wall behing me. Someone started passing out small glasses with random colored drinks in them. Small bottles indicated some of the flavors: strawberry, lemon, peach. The drinks were lit on fire and when the fire went out, each of us drank our glass. Then as a group we all began to sing "The Lord's Prayer." Our voices blended pretty well and it sounded really nice. But we were all sad and happy at the same time as the world was ending.

end of the work week
Today, thursday, marks the end of another work week. The end of a crazy week. Besides being more clumsy and dropping things, tonight I managed to break my right flip-flop while at work. This does require talent, although maybe not the kind of talent I would wish to have. To make this even better, it happened around 4 maybe 4:30 ish and my shift didn't end until 10pm. My solution? A mini stapler and some pieces of tape. And no, it wasn't duct tape which can fix anything. It was just plain old scotch tape, which did work its wonders and kept my shoe together until I got home.
Also as part of my crazy week. Last night a friend dropped off a large chcolate cookie dough DQ blizzard at work for me. These are my absolute fave!!!!! Anyway, he brought it by around 9:30pm so I was working on getting my stuff done for the end of my shift. I got a few bites in before I had to leave. It sat with me in the car, looking all delicious but melting. When I got home, around nearly 10:30, I set it on the trunk of my car so I could grab my backpack and bag in my backseat. I closed my car door and reached for the delicious chocolateness and the worst thing possible happened. The outside was wet from melting. It slipped from my hand and exploded all over the outside of my car and my legs and my flip-flops (which if you read earlier are now dead anyway). My chocolatey goodness was all over the car and pavement and me but not in my tummy. Such a cruddy way to end the night. And I will admit, I was tempted to grab some of the cookie dough pieces off the pavement, but I managed to resist. Barely.
Long story short: I NEED chocolate cookie dough blizzards from DQ!!!!

tv shows (spoilers possible!)
Ok, so since I don't have cable at home anymore, I've been watching them at work, although there's no cable there so it's just the basic channels, but still it's tv. Anyway, so I saw the results for America's Got Talent tonight. I so wanted the guy at the end to win over the girl who did impersonations. His juggling acts were so cool!!! The acts were on last night but I was busy watching other shows so I only caught maybe 3 acts, but his was definiately awesome to watch!
Tonight I also watched America's Next Top Model. Since thie season they're showing has already finished, who was the winner?" I know Brittany and Molly were still around in the top 5, but who won? Does anyone know?
Also Love in the Wild tonight was crazy! They were right in saying the end of this episode was a must-see! Who'd have thought 2 couples would go home because none of them wanted to be with any of the others? At least Sam and her partner (what's his name?) were still together. They are so cute!!!
And last night I saw the premier of Take the Money and Run. The 2 brothers tried so hard and made it through over half the 48 hour period. Dang those detectives grilling them did their job well. I felt so bad when the brother Paul finally gave in to their pressure. Also I completely missed Master Chef to watch this show, so I'll have to go online and see if I can find it somewhere and see what happened between Christian and the blond girl. I find he's gotten very annoying and arrogant, so I hope he got eliminated. And Combat Hospital was interesting as well. Who'd have thought the gay female pilot would have been married before and been straight or at least secretly bi and then got stuck being sick with her ex-husband? Cool plot twist if very small. And yay for the secret service guy for coming back again for a bit!

tuesday 10pm
Today is a huge day! The reason why? I have cancelled my cable. It's more than I can afford right now. But the big thing is that I've had cable tv my whole life except 1 year at my first apt. And that was about 8 years ago. Ah cable, how I will miss you!! The shows and the background noise since I live alone and it makes me feel more homey. I shall have to either watch more movies or figure out how to get the basic channels like 4, 6 and 11. Thus begins day 1 of being cable-less.
In other news, at my work there are once again our evil annual flying bugs. We call them fish flies although none of us are really sure what they are. Their white-ish and fly with what looks like 2 antannea coming from their back ends like a "v". Plus they fly a bit then land and it looks like their butts explode as they stick to things. Then they flap around on the ground in a circle for awhile then die and really smell. And there's not just a few, oh no. There are 100s. And what's really gross is when they fall in where the money goes. That makes us have to sift them out to get to the money at the end of each shift. Ewwwwww!!!!! I might invest in some rubber gloves for the next few weeks. Or wish for rain on my overnight shift.

Does anyone else ever wish they got more mail that wasn't just bills and junk mail? Since it's just me, that's all there ever seems to be. Every once in awhile I get something new like a card or magazine with coupons for local shops. There's got to be ways to get more interesting mail. Like a friend of mine who used to participate in surveys and got to try things at home, like food or perfume, etc. How do I get in on this? Maybe I should get a penpal. Or take some sort of correspondence class, once I figure out how to find something like that. Any suggestions?
Once again Facebook is sucking me back in. I was addicted (yes, i admit it) for several months then got sidetracked by playing WOW (world of warcraft to the uninformed). I'm still playing WOW but not every day, more like every other day or every few days. But Facebook is starting to get fun again. Especially since I finally got my game requests list back under 100 (it's around 40 right now).
Their games are mind-numbing and help pass the time, but more often than not the time gets away from me way too much. You sit to play for a few minutes and then suddenly.... it's 3 hours later!!! How do they do? I must learn to tear myself away more and do more productive things. Although isn't growing crops on Farmville or cooking food in Cafeworld a totally worthwhile waste of time? Hmmmm, something for me to ponder as I play Mafia Wars.

books!
Nothing major for this entry. I'm just excited people are ordering books I've posted on www.paperbackswap.com For every book of mine someone orders and then recieves in the mail, I get a credit so I can order a book from someone else. Since I love to read, this is heaven! I've found obscure books I've been looking for plus newer ones to complete series. I'm always on the look-out for more books to read, so garage sales and thrift stores are amazing things! Recommendations for books are fun too, although it's rare I buy a book new as I soooo need to save money.
school?
I need a better job. To do this, I probably need to go back to school for a different degree. (The one I have is a BS in Anthropology, which really does me no good unless I get a higher degree or have more money to go on archaeology digs.) The problem is this: how do I decide what to get a degree in?
I have many interests, but I want a degree in a field where I can actually get a good job and make some money, which I am sorely lacking right now. Plus I need either something online or a school nearby as I'm in my apt lease until May. I'm also still paying on my student loan. It has about $13,000 left on it. I don't really want to move somewhere to go to school with that number looming over my head, no job, and no family and friends nearby for support. How do I find the right field and then the right school?

friday 7/22/11
This was one of the more busy and interesting days I've had in awhile.
First was a 9am call (my alarm was set for 11am as I didn't have any immediate plans). My work called and asked if I could come in and work from 2-6pm. I don't work on fridays, so this was a surprise. In the end I agreed to come in but that I would be there around 2:30 as I already had something going on at 1.
What I had already scheduled for 1pm was my very first ever manicure and pedicure. I've had a gift certificate for this since around Christmas and finally decided to papmper myself. (Also was to help since my boyfriend I'd been dating since November and I broke things off.) Anyway, at the salon I didn't know you had to pick the colors you wanted and if you wanted a nail design so this took awhile to decide. I ended up with sparkly red toes and fingernails, which do look very pretty although the fingernail polish had already begun to chip by the end of the day.
Getting my toes done was a fun experience. Soaking my feet felt great and the chair I sat in was amassage chair, so that felt wonderful although I did laugh a bit as it was also a new experience and felt good but funny. Plus the lady said my feet weren't dry and my heels were better than most she saw. Both good things to know.
When I was finally at work (2:45) things went pretty fast. I work at the toll bridge in Fargo (the only toll bridge in ND that I'm aware of). I have some regular customers who chat with me, but today there was someone knew to talk to. A lady came by, stopped to pay, then asked if I was the employee at the bridge who does geocaching. (You can read up on this at www.geocaching.com) I do and go by the name ladylexia. She got all excited and said she geocaches too and told me her handle. It would have been great to talk more, but there were cars string to line up behind her, so hopefully she comes through again when it's less busy.
After work and an errand, I made it home in time to drop things off and meet friends at the Pizza Ranch. As usual the food was good as was the company, who were 2 of my friends coming over to my place after this meal to play some pinochle for a few hours. This is a pretty regular friday event for us. (I love playing pinochle!) Usually we can platy a few games in a few hours, but tonight it took 2 hours to finish just 1 game. The cards were against us all.
To cap the night off, my mom called. She and my dad were on their wayto the lakes. Earlier today she'd lost her phone. Now she was calling to see if I would go to a park in West fargo and search a picnic area for her phone. This cut card night short, but low and behold we found her phone! I was surprised and had even told her it was probably long gone. I guess luck was on her side =)
All in all the day went well and was fun. Cards were awesome as usual, and knowing there are more geocachers in the area is a bonus, especially when I can't find caches I'm looking for, which does happen more than I'd like but I am improving!

marriage
I'm 32 years old and still looking for the right guy to settle down with. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever find him. Maybe some cultures have it right with arranged marriages. Do people have to marry for love or is it ok to marry someone you only like, like a best friend. Or what about mail/internet order brides? They still exist. The only problem with that option is they come from other countries to the US. I'm already from the US. What options does this leave me?

morning medely
The past 2 mornings have found me singing in the shower again. Now this is nothing new to me, I do this most mornings. But today and yesterday I've been singing my way through the entire score of "The Sound of Music." I haven't even watched this movie in over a year, although I did watch the Oprah episode on their cast reunion a month or so ago. I guess it affected me mroe than I thought. (BTW I don't normally watch Oprah; I think I've seen 2 full shows total ever.) Since I live in an apartment, I wonder if my neighbors can hear me sing. Hopefully it's entertaining if they can and not somewthing that makes them cringe and wait to use their bathroom until I'm done.

men: part 1
So where are all the good men these days? The ones who want to settle down and have a family? I'm 32 and single. All I want is to find a good guy and settle down. Is that too much to ask? I don't consider myself bad looking, although I do need to lose some weight (I love food too much!). I went to college, but don't use my degree (BS in anthropology). Instead my job right now is at a toll bridge 36 hours/week. (It's the only toll bridge in North Dakota) It's a job and pays the bills.
last night
Ok, so it's been very warm and humid all this past week. The temp's been in the high 80's to mid 90's, depending on the day. Finally we got some rain last night. I was already in bed and alseep when it started. I woke up to these crazy flashes of light, and I'm a light sleeper already so this brought me wide awake. After running to shut off my computer, I stood in the patio doorway and watched the sky light up for a few minutes. Then I figured I was still pretty tired, so i headed back to bed. My earplugs were already in but the lightning flashes were still going. Grabbing my eye-cover thing, all I could think was, "Sorry, God, I'm sure your pyrotechnics tonight are amazing but I need to sleep."

random event 7/18/11
My parents have a cat named Rachel. (To me she's puddin' head or fatty kitty or psycho, depending on my mood and her's.) I had to take her to the groomer today for her first (and possibly only) haircut. Yeah, we had her hair shaved except for her head and legs from about the knees down. (Do cats have knees?) It's like a cut you'd give a poodle except there's no poof on the end of her tail. She is a sight to see now, especially with her fatty saggy tummy which is now plenty visible with no hair to hide behind. I figured she'd be insulted and mad at me and yet she just wanted to be petted once I let her out of her cat carrier (I think that's maybe her 2nd time ever in it). This cat is not overly friendly and will not let me hold her, so petting her now all shaved was the coolest thing! Plus she smells soooo much better so quite possibly might become a regular thing. Cats with poddle haircuts could become a hot commodity. Yay me for a possible new trend.
1st day blogging
Ok, so I've been thinking about starting a blog for awhile now. I just happen to be a bit of a procrastinator and am very forgettful, so this is me finally doing this after maybe 5-6 months of first deciding to start a blog. Also please bear with me as I may ramble or not make a lot of sense sometimes or just go off on weird tangents.
